One story and low slung, this classic courtyard house is defined by the outdoor space between its long wings. The courtyard is private, ideally situated with its open end to the west for our northwest climate. Ahh, the late afternoon summer sun in Seattle, give us more! We can imagine the family chatting into the night around the fire pit and retreating to the covered porch for that June birthday party that every now and then gets rained out. Its simple plan belies some of its subtle charms; a private outdoor shower, and a secret playroom for the grandkids. We just hope we get invited over on one of those magical nights where all the doors are thrown open wide and that line between inside and outside disappears.
